The Hellenic American University African Studies Center promotes interdisciplinary inquiry and disseminates knowledge on contemporary Africa. The Center organizes research seminars and colloquia in three main areas of inquiry:
- Africa in the Global System, with a focus on US-Africa and EU-Africa relations
- Economic Development, Law and Social Change
- The African Diaspora
The Center also hosts guest lectures and talks in these areas as well as other issues in African politics, culture and international development.
Associates of the African Studies Center work together with faculty in the Business, English Language and Literature, Music and Applied Linguistics degree programs to develop undergraduate and graduate courses that explore economic, social, political, linguistic and cultural issues in Africa as well as to enrich existing courses with relevant content in African Studies.
