Research Ethics and Policies
Research involving human subjects at Hellenic American University must be conducted in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, and codes set forth by a researcher’s professional organization. Hellenic American University maintains a Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) of Compliance (hereafter referred to as “Assurance”) with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Human Resource Protections (FWA #00022113). This Assurance is updated periodically and commits the University to adopting the ethical principles set forth in the Belmont Report and abiding by federal regulations for the protection of human subjects set forth in 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 46.
Institutional Review Board
In following guidelines of best practice of academic research, the University uses its Institutional Research Board to assure that research is conducted ethically in cases where human subjects are involved and that findings are disseminated in a socially responsible manner.
All research involving human subjects conducted by University faculty, staff and students must receive approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
