Manos Markantonis is a Greek composer and music theorist. He holds a PhD in Music Composition from Trinity College Dublin (School of Creative Arts), having been awarded the Home Hewson Scholarship for his doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Evangelia Rigaki. He also earned an MPhil in Composition from Trinity College Dublin and a BM in Theory and Composition from Hellenic American University. He completed a Composition Diploma under Prof. Theodore Antoniou, in addition to degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue from the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts and attended the International Summer Courses for New Music in Darmstadt. His creative output focuses on contemporary classical music, experimental music theater, and music for film and media. His works have been performed in Greece, the United States, and Ireland, by ensembles such as the Hellenic Contemporary Music Ensemble, ALEA III, L’Anima String Quartet, Parabasis Ensemble, and the Metallon Quintet of the Athens State Orchestra. He has been commissioned to compose music for television and historical documentaries, with projects featured on the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation and other organizations. Alongside his compositional activity, he is involved in music education and research, with interests in new music, theatricality, and symbolism. He is an adjunct faculty member in the Music program.
